SOUTH TYROL

THE CONNOISSEUR-SPECIAL

October 4 - 9, 2025

You have already watched the video? Now, you feel quite inspired, and would like to learn more about what was shown? Perhaps even upclose and personal? Wonderful!
In October 2025, it will indeed happen. We will do it again, and quite precisely and exactly as you saw it in the video, which was made at the exact same time of year—just in 2024. So, in October 2025, you will enjoy a driving pleasure close to perfection. You will tour through delightfully beautiful landscapes. And you will experience heartfelt hospitality based on partnerships that have grown over years (in fact: more than a decade now. We will fully share our penchant for enjoyment and pleasure with you. Likewise, we will make several aspects of joy in South Tyrol tangible, the joy of being able to work with these service-partners, the joy of these routes, and the solitude that comes with them in October. Just imagine the one consequence of solitude that arises in this context: FREEDOM! Freedom in the open-air stage of the Dolomites, freedom at the deserted Lake Garda, and—with a bit of luck (the weather shouldn’t be too good)—an UNOBSTRUCTED PATH even at the Stelvio Pass. We would love to open this barrel of joy with you.

Does that sound good? Then be there!

SOUTH TYROL

THE CONNOISSEUR-SPECIAL

  • Saturday, October 4, 2025

Meeting point and a short driver briefing at the foot of the Silvretta around 3:30 PM. After that, we’ll take a few rounds on the High Alpine Road. We simply deserve this – preferably in a (eventually ending) loop. Afterwards, check-in at Hotel Fluchthorn on the Tyrolean side and dine in their restaurant.

    Sunday, October 5, 2025

Through beautiful Tyrolean country and mountain roads to the border with Italy at the Timmelsjoch pass. Then via Jaufenpass and Penser Joch into the Sarntal to patron and friend Gregor Wenter at Hotel Bad Schörgau. Either a schnitzel dinner (and we’re talking about the real Wiener Schnitzel with exactly the kind of fries that will beam any fry junkie into happiness) or – quite traditionally – a South Tyrolean menu from the kitchen of Mattia Baron.

    Monday, October 6, 2025

If the weather permits, we’ll go all out right away. In other words: a big Dolomites tour with all the famous passes.Rosengarten, Nigerpass, Karerpass, Giau, Falzarego, Valparola, Würzjoch, Ritten, Grödner Joch, Fedaia, Sella, Campolongo, Pordoi, and a few more passes are quite close together and create a sensational menu in every conceivable combination. In the evening, Gregor will cook himself (at least that’s what he says), and we won’t miss that. There will surely be a sequence of traditional dishes. With Sarner flair.

    Tuesday, October 7, 2025

Two options for a tour southward (Trentino Dolomites) are available: one with Lake Levico as a stopover, the other with Lake Garda as the highlight. Which option we choose will also depend a bit on whether the Strada della Forra (which SIR Winston Churchill himself called the “eighth wonder of the world”) has been reopened for traffic by October 2025. If not, the Lake Levico round will be the more likely of the two options, and we will guide you over Monte Bondone to the extraordinary Romanese brothers in Levico for an exceptional wine tasting, including a very special Trento DOC. After that, we’ll return to the hotel via Manghenpass, etc.

There, the shuttle to the “Cross” will soon be waiting for you. We’re heading to the best “speck in the world” with Benni and Juliane at Almgasthof Putzer Cross. A veritable “money can’t buy” event of the highest class will unfold before your eyes. Under the Hergottswinkel in the parlor.

    Wednesday, October 8, 2025

    Stelvio, Gavia, Tonale, Mendel!

For some, that’s enough information for the day to bring tears of anticipation and emotion. In the evening, we will either serve the already mentioned schnitzel or “La Fuga,” the current concept menu of the Schörgauer kitchen.

And then off to bed… Okay, there’s still the Schörgau bar…

    Thursday, October 9, 2025

Individual return journey. For those who haven’t had enough yet, we’ll head towards Switzerland. Ofenpass and Flüela would be an option to prolong the farewell a little.
